Episode 64 - Crush the Skull/Cell/Christopher Lombardo and Jeff Kirschner

It's time to get back to work. After our Crypticon special, we now return you to our regular program. In today's Real World Horror story, we discuss a story that sounds like it's from Ghostbusters 2, but is (allegedly) oh so real. In Horror Business, we play a little bit of catch-up, covering news stories on Halloween and Friday the 13th, and go on a rant about The Conjuring and James Wan. We also discuss the best horror to come out of E3 and who will fill Tim Curry's giant shoes in Stephen King's It. Speaking of Stephen King, we reviewed yet another adaptation of his work, the sci-fi thriller Cell. We also discuss the indie home invasion horror Crush the Skull. We also spoke to the authors of Death by Umbrella! The 100 Weirdest Horror Movie Weapons, Christopher Lombardo and Jeff Kirschner. We discuss their book as well as their podcast, Really Awful Movies. So grab a spoon and dig in.

Episode 63 - Tales from Crypticon 2016

Crypticon Seattle has come and gone once again. "The largest gathering of fans of the macabre in the Pacific Northwest" has become a staple of the Grave Plot Podcast and this year may be the best yet. Listen in as we recap the weekend, including talking to Tony Todd and Kane Hodder or, as you may know them, Candyman and Jason Voorhees. We also spoke to Lisa Ovies, the director of the upcoming film Puppet Killer, and the good folks at Luchagore Productions and you can hear those interviews for yourself! You can also hear about the different panels we appeared on, drunk dancing with Krusty Bumbles, the many short films we watched, and a nightmarish adventure of simply getting home. Episode 62 - The Darkness/Bite

Hello from the other side. So... there's good news and bad news. Bad news is, our mixer crapped out on us. Good news is, the show must go on. More bad news is, the show was recorded on an inboard laptop mic and sounds... well it sounds like it was recorded on an inboard laptop mic. More good news is, we can rebuild it. We have the technology (TECHNOLOGY!). So just deal with it this week, next episode will be our Crypticon spectacular, and then everything should be hunky dory when we return in Episode 64. Sound good? Well, no, it doesn't sound good, but I mean... we square? In today's Horror Business, we talk about a movie based on a haunted painting because you can buy the rights to anything these days. We also discuss an 80s remake, the final season of a horror TV show, a new installment in a popular video game franchise, and a new horror comic label. For our reviews we discussed the arthropod body horror movie Bite, about a girl who goes to Costa Rica and brings home more than a souvenir. We also trusted Blumhouse to deliver a solid PG-13 horror film with The Darkness, about a family who hates each other and also has some issues with demons. Did they deliver? I mean, it has Bacon. Bacon makes everything better, right? Right? Guys? So let us give you a kick in the ear balls with a brand new episode of The Grave Plot Podcast.

Episode 61 - Green Room/They're Watching/Alex DiVincenzo

After Tony was stricken with a virus, he has now risen once again to feast upon the flesh of the living. No, wait, not that. But Tony is back from his illness and Taylor has also returned from his vacation to once again feed upon your brains. Speaking of rising from the grave, we kick off Horror Business today with a Real World Horror story about a Philadelphia lab trying to resurrect the dead. Seriously. This is a thing they're trying to do. God save us all. In our new Horror Business format, we bring you the top five stories (according to us) from around the genre. Today, that includes stories on The Exorcist, Day of the Dead, The Mummy, Puppet Master, and From Dusk Till Dawn. What fucking year is this? Not a single original franchise. We also spoke with filmmaker, journalist, and owner of the website Broke Horror Fan, Alex DiVincenzo. Alex discusses horror collectibles as well as his short films The Horrors of Autocorrect and Trouser Snake and the upcoming feature Abyzou: The Taker of Children. In our movie reviews, we discuss the movie Green Room, about a punk band trapped in a... green room... as a gang of Nazis refuse to let them leave. We wrap up with the film They're Watching, about a Moldovan village and its inhabitants who... watch... stuff. Get some.

Episode 60 - Darling/Holidays

I hope your body is ready for a big ol' load of The Grave Plot Podcast. ...No good? Sorry, Taylor's better at writing these. But, Taylor is nowhere to be found on this 60th episode, paving the way for the grand return of Tony's dad, John as the guest co-host. He and Tony discuss a healthy dollop of Horror Business, John giving his [lengthy] insight on stories about TNT's plans to be the go-to channel for your horror fix, some info about Twin Peaks possibly trying to pull a fast one on us, news about two upcoming Stephen King adaptations, the future of The Walking Dead, and new sequels for popular franchises. Oh, and something about a dumb shark movie. Next, Tony and his dad dive into discussion about Mickey Keating's critical darling, Darling (see what I did there?), the story of a housesitter with a dark side. And to wrap up the show, they talk about the new multi-writer/director anthology Holidays. Follow along with Tony, John and Taylor's called-in reviews as they dissect these two movies. So bite down and hold on tight, because it's gonna be a long one. And that's what she said.

Episode 59 - Hush/The Other Side of the Door/Kaci Hansen

We heard your cries and we are here to satisfy your Earthly desires for a new episode of The Grave Plot Podcast!
Today we have perhaps our most troubling Real World Horror story yet, followed by some much lighter topics including updates on Friday the 13th, a new film adaptation of a Stephen King book (I know, shocker, right?), and uncovering the legend of the hidden Temple. We've also got updates on our old friend Jessica Cameron and a new comic from the creator of Sons of Anarchy. We also talked to the woman who put the "cleaver" in June Cleaver, the Martha Stewart of the Macabre, the Homicidal Homemaker Kaci Hansen. Kaci tells us about her horror-themed cooking show as well as her other endeavors within the genre. She also discusses the horror community and inspiring horror fans of tomorrow. In our movie reviews, we examine the supernatural thriller The Other Side of the Door and the latest from writer/director Mike Flanagan, Hush. They're both potentially difficult to get your eyeballs on, but is it worth it if you can? Listen and find out. NOTE: At the end of the episode we said that our next reviews would be Before I Wake and Holidays. This was before we realized that Relativity Media pushed Before I Wake off their schedule. We will be watching Darling instead.

Episode 58 - 10 Cloverfield Lane/JeruZalem

This episode got a little weird. No technical issues or anything (I think those days are finally behind us), things just got... weird. Okay, we got weird. In Horror Business, we discuss a new ride at Universal Studios, the latest in The Crow curse, a movie version of Todd and the Book of Pure Evil, and a remake of Jacob's Ladder. We also discuss Children of the Corn, Slenderman, and pink eye. In our reviews, we discuss the Israeli biblical horror JeruZalem and J.J. Abrams' "blood relative" (whatever the hell that means) to 2008's Cloverfield, titled 10 Cloverfield Lane. So listen hard and listen good. Take it all in. Let it consume you.

Episode 57 - Tusk/We Are Still Here (again)

Let's face it, our opinions are often different than other people's. We tend to march to the beat of our own drum and don't always conform to the popular opinion of the masses. Today we will look back at a pair of movies that we reviewed once before, but our reviews seemed to be contrary to those of most. We have one movie that we enjoyed but was trashed by many in Kevin Smith's Tusk, as well as a film we loathed but most loved called We Are Still Here. Will our opinions change the second time around? Before we get to that, though, we have to talk some Horror Business. We start out with a Real World Horror story about the "Dentist of Horror," followed by casting news for the new Hellraiser, Flatliners, and Predator movies. We also discuss a famous director fixing a mistake and some TV news including The Exorcist and Scream Queens. So prepare yourself, you have no idea what you're in for.

Episode 56 - Cabin Fever (2016)/The Witch/Brian Netto and Adam Schindler

Hello once again and welcome to another episode of the Grave Plot Podcast!
 
We kick things off with the best Real World Horror story ever. Seriously. This one won't be topped. We also discuss the latest entries in both the Hellraiser and Child's Play series, Nicolas Cage's new horror movie, and the Ghostbusters and Rabid remakes. We also have zombie news including sequels to Dead Rising and Dead Island.
 
We also had a sit down with the filmmakers behind the movie Intruders. We talked to producer Brian Netto and director Adam Schindler about casting, location scouting, their previous film Delivery, and what the future holds.
 
For our reviews, we discuss the remake of Eli Roth's 2002 Cabin Fever, which has been called "pointless" and "superior." So which is it? Listen and find out.
