Episode 60 - Darling/Holidays

I hope your body is ready for a big ol' load of The Grave Plot Podcast. ...No good? Sorry, Taylor's better at writing these. But, Taylor is nowhere to be found on this 60th episode, paving the way for the grand return of Tony's dad, John as the guest co-host. He and Tony discuss a healthy dollop of Horror Business, John giving his [lengthy] insight on stories about TNT's plans to be the go-to channel for your horror fix, some info about Twin Peaks possibly trying to pull a fast one on us, news about two upcoming Stephen King adaptations, the future of The Walking Dead, and new sequels for popular franchises. Oh, and something about a dumb shark movie. Next, Tony and his dad dive into discussion about Mickey Keating's critical darling, Darling (see what I did there?), the story of a housesitter with a dark side. And to wrap up the show, they talk about the new multi-writer/director anthology Holidays. Follow along with Tony, John and Taylor's called-in reviews as they dissect these two movies. So bite down and hold on tight, because it's gonna be a long one. And that's what she said.

Episode 59 - Hush/The Other Side of the Door/Kaci Hansen

We heard your cries and we are here to satisfy your Earthly desires for a new episode of The Grave Plot Podcast!
Today we have perhaps our most troubling Real World Horror story yet, followed by some much lighter topics including updates on Friday the 13th, a new film adaptation of a Stephen King book (I know, shocker, right?), and uncovering the legend of the hidden Temple. We've also got updates on our old friend Jessica Cameron and a new comic from the creator of Sons of Anarchy. We also talked to the woman who put the "cleaver" in June Cleaver, the Martha Stewart of the Macabre, the Homicidal Homemaker Kaci Hansen. Kaci tells us about her horror-themed cooking show as well as her other endeavors within the genre. She also discusses the horror community and inspiring horror fans of tomorrow. In our movie reviews, we examine the supernatural thriller The Other Side of the Door and the latest from writer/director Mike Flanagan, Hush. They're both potentially difficult to get your eyeballs on, but is it worth it if you can? Listen and find out. NOTE: At the end of the episode we said that our next reviews would be Before I Wake and Holidays. This was before we realized that Relativity Media pushed Before I Wake off their schedule. We will be watching Darling instead.

Episode 58 - 10 Cloverfield Lane/JeruZalem

This episode got a little weird. No technical issues or anything (I think those days are finally behind us), things just got... weird. Okay, we got weird. In Horror Business, we discuss a new ride at Universal Studios, the latest in The Crow curse, a movie version of Todd and the Book of Pure Evil, and a remake of Jacob's Ladder. We also discuss Children of the Corn, Slenderman, and pink eye. In our reviews, we discuss the Israeli biblical horror JeruZalem and J.J. Abrams' "blood relative" (whatever the hell that means) to 2008's Cloverfield, titled 10 Cloverfield Lane. So listen hard and listen good. Take it all in. Let it consume you.

Episode 57 - Tusk/We Are Still Here (again)

Let's face it, our opinions are often different than other people's. We tend to march to the beat of our own drum and don't always conform to the popular opinion of the masses. Today we will look back at a pair of movies that we reviewed once before, but our reviews seemed to be contrary to those of most. We have one movie that we enjoyed but was trashed by many in Kevin Smith's Tusk, as well as a film we loathed but most loved called We Are Still Here. Will our opinions change the second time around? Before we get to that, though, we have to talk some Horror Business. We start out with a Real World Horror story about the "Dentist of Horror," followed by casting news for the new Hellraiser, Flatliners, and Predator movies. We also discuss a famous director fixing a mistake and some TV news including The Exorcist and Scream Queens. So prepare yourself, you have no idea what you're in for.

Episode 56 - Cabin Fever (2016)/The Witch/Brian Netto and Adam Schindler

Hello once again and welcome to another episode of the Grave Plot Podcast!
 
We kick things off with the best Real World Horror story ever. Seriously. This one won't be topped. We also discuss the latest entries in both the Hellraiser and Child's Play series, Nicolas Cage's new horror movie, and the Ghostbusters and Rabid remakes. We also have zombie news including sequels to Dead Rising and Dead Island.
 
We also had a sit down with the filmmakers behind the movie Intruders. We talked to producer Brian Netto and director Adam Schindler about casting, location scouting, their previous film Delivery, and what the future holds.
 
For our reviews, we discuss the remake of Eli Roth's 2002 Cabin Fever, which has been called "pointless" and "superior." So which is it? Listen and find out. You can also find out our thoughts on The Witch, a movie being heralded as the next big thing in horror. Do we agree? We also discuss the new crop of campers coming to Dead of Summer, a British stage show coming to the silver screen, and the latest game from the creator of Red Dead Redemption.We also have another interview for you, this one with Chris Vander Kaay. Chris is the author of the horror movie research books The Anatomy of Fear and his newest release, Horror Films by Subgenre: A Viewer's Guide. He talks about how he got interested in horror, how it inspired him to educate the masses, and how he continues to be intrigued by its appeal.For our reviews, we tackle the American remake of the popular French film Martyrs. The original has been heralded for its brutality and has been named by many as one of the best horror films of the last decade. How does the Americanized version hold up? Episode 54 - The Boy/The Boy/Cody Meirick

Good morning. Please keep it down as Tony is quite hungover today. But he's downed an entire bottle of Pedialyte and he's ready to power through. We kick things off with Horror Business and a real world story about possessed dolls. We then discuss the Friday the 13th reboot that almost was, the latest Manson Family film from a pair of American Psychos, and a gross, terrible, disgusting idea for a TV adaptation of a classic film. We also discuss Salem's new guest star, the latest horror streaming on your computer, and new video games and comics. We move on to talk to Cody Meirick, the producer and director of the upcoming Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark documentary. Cody gabs about his love for the books, what inspired him to make a documentary based on them, and what Guillermo Del Toro might think of it. The film is currently crowd funding and you can help get it made by donating at their Indiegogo page. For our reviews, we talk two different movies, both titled The Boy. Up first is the 2015 SpectreVision film about a sociopathic boy with a penchant for death. Hello Grave Diggers! We're back once again for a brand new, action-packed episode of the Grave Plot Podcast. We've got a full slate of Horror Business, starting off with the loss of a legend. We also discuss a couple classics being remade, one for television and one for the big screen, and a couple book adaptations. We also discuss Walmart's censorship, the return of a beloved video game franchise, and the mystery of 10 Cloverfield Lane. In Remains, we discuss the latest on Rob Zombie, the Cabin Fever remake, and the return of a horror telenovela. In our reviews, we've got a couple of subtitled horrors. Up first is the Tobe Hooper directed Arab demon film Djinn, followed by the German creepfest Goodnight Mommy. We then play Plot Holes and then the show is over. So... bye!

Episode 52 - Grave Plot Awards/Some Kind of Hate/Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse

Hello and happy new year! We kick off this episode with the first ever Grave Plot Awards. We voted, you voted, and now we reward the best in horror movies and TV for 2015. In Horror Business, we have real world horror stories based on The Shining and Hellraiser. We also have updates on Rob Zombie's 31 and a new Swamp Thing comic, plus new projects from David Fincher and James Franco. We also reviewed two movies, namely the supernatural slasher Some Kind of Hate and the horror comedy zombie flick Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse. So dig in and enjoy.

Episode 51 - Krampus/All Through the House/Todd Nunes w/ Max Zaleski

Merry Christmas, bitches! It's time once again to unwrap another brand new episode of The Grave Plot Podcast and our favorite bearded man is in the house. No, not Santa Claus, it's Wrestling With Subtitles' Max Zaleski! Under that dead corpse of a Douglas fir you have in your living room you'll find a big ol' box of Horror Business, including a real world horror story about millions of spiders coming home for the holidays. We also discuss a new horror movie streaming service, a new take on an old classic, some book adaptations coming to the small screen, and an exciting upcoming sequel. We have another special guest as well, as we got a chance to talk to Todd Nunes, the writer and director of the indie yuletide slasher All Through the House. Todd gives us a history of his interest in film and horror, including a "Friday the 13th" play. He also tells us all about the production of All Through the House, which, by the way, we reviewed! Hear all our thoughts on that film as well as the latest from Trick 'r Treat director Michael Dougherty, Krampus. He conquered Halloween and now looks to do the same with Christmas. So let's do this.
