Wednesday Feb 03, 2016
Wednesday Feb 03, 2016
Good morning. Please keep it down as Tony is quite hungover today. But he's downed an entire bottle of Pedialyte and he's ready to power through. We kick things off with Horror Business and a real world story about possessed dolls. We then discuss the Friday the 13th reboot that almost was, the latest Manson Family film from a pair of American Psychos, and a gross, terrible, disgusting idea for a TV adaptation of a classic film. We also discuss Salem's new guest star, the latest horror streaming on your computer, and new video games and comics. We move on to talk to Cody Meirick, the producer and director of the upcoming Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark documentary. Cody gabs about his love for the books, what inspired him to make a documentary based on them, and what Guillermo Del Toro might think of it. The film is currently crowd funding and you can help get it made by donating at their Indiegogo page. For our reviews, we talk two different movies, both titled The Boy. Up first is the 2015 SpectreVision film about a sociopathic boy with a penchant for death. Second is the brand new film starring Lauren Cohen as a nanny who takes care of a doll with the spirit of a child. Which boy will reign supreme? Listen and find out now.

We made it folks. Fifty episodes. When we started this adventure over two years ago, we set this as a benchmark for ourselves. We're very proud to have made it and show no signs of slowing down now. In this historic episode, we have a handful of Horror Business, including a real world story about ghost ships, a Haunted Mansion comic, the latest from John Carpenter, and new TV shows based on vampires and graboids. We also have updates on a new Gremlins movie, the Prometheus sequels, and reboots of The Crow and Friday the 13th. For our movie reviews, we discuss Tara Subkoff's #Horror (yes, pronounced "hashtag horror"), about cyber bullying and little girls and Farmville. Or something. We also review the latest take on a classic, Victor Frankenstein. This isn't your typical mad scientist movie. If you take nothing else away from this episode, you will at least learn what a Swedish periscope is. Here's to the next 50.

Speaking of comics, we also discuss TV adaptations of several books, both comic and novel. Other topics include a summer camp anthology, a short film adaptation, a long overdue sequel and a completely unnecessary remake. Plus, top hats. We got a chance to talk to "the Banksy of horror," film critic and storyteller Bleeding Critic. In our reviews, we discuss the latest from Eli Roth, Knock Knock. It's a home invasion thriller about two beautiful women seducing and torturing the guy from Wyld Stallynz. Octoberama 2015 comes to a close with our annual Halloween special. We kick off Horror Business with a real world horror story that may be the beginning of the end for life on Earth. How's that for a hook? We then move on to discuss the new Friday the 13th video game, and not one, not two, but THREE different comic books being adapted for the screen. We go on to talk about Shout! Factory's plan to make original content and have some bad news for fans of reboots. Do those exist? We then go on to talk to Casey Ruggieri, one of the stars of the new horror anthology Tales of Halloween. Casey talks about about her interest in horror, tells some on-set stories, and gives us some hints about what her future holds. Speaking of Tales of Halloween, it's one of our reviews this episode! That makes sense, right? Halloween episode, Tales of Halloween, you get the idea. But wait, there's more! There's another new Halloween themed movie out called Hellions and we go on to review that one as well. Before we take off into the night, Man Crates, the creators of awesome gifts for men that come in a big crate you have to open with a crowbar, asked us this question: what would we need in a crate to last a whole horror movie? We relay some of the best answers from listeners and give our own answers as well. We then close things out with a festive round of Plot Holes before heading off to our annual Halloween party. So put this audio candy in your pumpkin bucket and enjoy. Happy Halloween!
