Episode 165 - The Pale Door/Ravenous
Wednesday Sep 09, 2020
Wednesday Sep 09, 2020
Howdy partner! We've got a rootin', tootin' new episode of The Grave Plot Podcast and today we're headed to the wild, wild west to talk about horror westerns!
Before we hit the ol' dusty trail, though, we've gotta talk about this Horror Business. In Real World Horror, we talk about a German graveyard featuring bodies being buried upside down. Why, you ask? Some kind of cult ritual? No, no, it's much simpler than that. It's because of ZOMBIES.
We also play a round of "good news, bad news" with a story on a brand new Haunted Mansion themed movie coming from Disney. Don't get too excited, remember there's bad news. We then reminisce on our times getting drunk and playing Left 4 Dead 2 because there's a new official unofficial update coming for the game! We also discuss a full length version of Jill Gevargizian's The Stylist, a whole franchise coming for Army of the Dead, and we delve into the strange world of Darren Lynn Bousman's One Day Die.
We then rustle up our film reviews. First up, we discuss the new witchy western The Pale Door, featuring Zachary Knighton, Pat Healy, and a gang of outlaws taking on an army of sinister Salem sorceresses. We then head to the snowy Sierra Nevada mountains for Ravenous. This pitch black comedic cannibal film feature Guy Pierce, Robert Carlyle, and - naturally - David Arquette. What could go wrong?
So saddle up and let's ride into the sunset with a brand new Grave Plot Podcast!

Wednesday Aug 26, 2020
Wednesday Aug 26, 2020
Oh you didn't know? Your ass better call somebody. Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, children of all ages, welcome to a brand new episode of The Grave Plot Podcast!
After our usual ranting and raving about various goings on in the world, including elections, The Grave Plot Film Fest, and A REMAKE OF THE EXORCIST WHAT, we get down to Horror Business. In Real World Horror, we take a look at the trend of terrifying insects infesting the United States, from murder hornets to the newest threat; zombie cicadas!
We then discuss a new TV show based on David Cronenberg's Dead Ringers, a troublesome pervert getting removed from Zack Snyder's Army of the Dead, and a trilogy of films based on the works of R.L. Stine coming to Netflix. We close out the segment talking about the possibility of a Tusk 2 as well as a VR Walking Dead video game.
For our film reviews, we discuss two new movies directed by people normally affiliated with comedy. First up is The Rental, the Airbnb horror from the trash panda known as Dave Franco. We follow that up with a slasher from the makers of Goon, including writer/director/actor Jay Baruchel, Random Acts of Violence.
So check out this new episode because if you're not down with that, WE GOT TWO WORDS FOR YA.

Episode 163 - Color Out of Space/Cthulhu
Wednesday Aug 12, 2020
Wednesday Aug 12, 2020
We are back from the brink with a brand new episode dedicated to the works of H.P. Lovecraft (but not the man specifically because fuck that racist). We were originally supposed to have a couple of self-proclaimed Lovecraft experts on this episode but unfortunately they had to cancel and we were left to stumble our way through the Nicolas Cage film Color Out of Space and the independent Cthulhu.
Of course, we've also got Horror Business, including a Real World Horror story that mirrors one of the films, as a lagoon in Paraguay turned an odd shade of purple. We also talk about a new adaptation of an underrated John Ritter classic, a new anthology featuring some familiar shorts, and tell you what's coming up next for the makers of the Shudder hit Host. We also discuss a new book from the legend Stephen King and a new, aquatic horror themed board game from the makers of Mixtape Massacre.
So head with us to Lovecraft Country as we embark on an epic journey known as The Grave Plot Podcast.

Episode 162 - Bloody Birthday/Madhouse
Wednesday Jul 29, 2020
Wednesday Jul 29, 2020
You gotta fight for your right to party, but Taylor doesn't because it's his birthday! To celebrate, we watched two birthday-centric horror movies and we recorded a new episode. IN PERSON. IN THE SAME ROOM AND EVERYTHING.
Before we unwrap those presents, though, we've gotta get through the business of Horror Business (and a becoming-ever-regular political rant). Oh yeah, and The Grave Plot Film Fest returns in 2021!
We start out with Real World Horror where I don't want to say we talk about aliens, but... aliens. We move on to discuss a new HBO Max series from the director of the Creep films, as well as not one, not two, not three, but FOUR adaptations from Stephen King's If It Bleeds collection. We've got some Stranger Things content to hold you over until season four, plus a small screen version of a lesser known R.L. Stine series of books. Finally, we talk about the new Mortal Kombat movie and just how bloody and gory it's going to be.
For our festive film reviews, we talk about a couple of 1981 features, namely Bloody Birthday and a "video nasty" that you have heard of as Madhouse, or possibly There Was A Little Girl, or maybe even And When She Was Bad. Regardless of what you call it, we'll tell you how we felt about it.
So join us for cake and ice cream and a brand new episode of The Grave Plot Podcast!

Episode 161 - Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter/Dolls (Patreon picks)
Wednesday Jul 01, 2020
Wednesday Jul 01, 2020
Like Brendan Fraser and the Looney Tunes, we're back in action. Just like in years past, we let our Patreon patrons choose the movies for this episode. We put together a list of their suggestions and picked two. This year we decided to make it an 80s-centric episode with Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter, chosen by Lance D., and Dolls, chosen by Aaron M.
First things first, we've got Real World Horror wherein we talk about a Dutch drug cartel and their creative use for storage containers. We follow that up with a group of Horror Business, or is it Horror Bruce-iness? That bad pun is because we've got not one, not two, but THREE stories based on the the icon known as Bruce Campbell. We give you updates on the fourth... fifth?... latest installment in the Evil Dead franchise, plus news on an upcoming video game from the same series. We also talk about Campbell's ambitions for a follow up to My Name is Bruce. But it's not all Bruce! We also talk about a new horror comedy coming from the creators of two of the best. We also discuss the inevitable horror film based, and shot, on Zoom.
So welcome us back by letting us into your skulls.

Episode 160 - The Wretched/Ready or Not
Thursday Jun 18, 2020
Thursday Jun 18, 2020
Here we go again, on our own. Going down the only road we've ever known. Like a drifter, we were born to roam alone. Now we've made up our mind and we ain't wasting no more time. So let's get to a brand new episode of The Grave Plot Podcast!
We try to figure out the state of the world, including a Real World Horror story featuring porn stars and toad venom. We go on to discuss the possibility of a new (or now) Evil Dead film, plus tell you what Ari Aster is up to next. Then, since it's 2020, we've got multiple stories all about remakes. We talk about new versions of The Changeling, Children of the Corn, and Bride of Frankenstein.
Since the world is still recovering, we're still recording remotely which sometimes affects our movie choices. Today we just had to throw a couple of films together. We play a little catch-up as we FINALLY watch Ready or Not, one of the most talked about movies of... last year. We then go on to discuss a much talked about movie of THIS year, The Wretched.
So enjoy this new episode, 'cause we know we know what it means to walk along the lonely street of dreams.

Episode 159 - Flight of the Living Dead/Exorcism at 60,000 Feet
Friday Jun 05, 2020
Friday Jun 05, 2020
This episode opens with a lengthy conversation on the issues currently going on in America and across the world. While our platform is small, we would have felt wrong to not discuss it. We're not a political podcast or even a very serious podcast, but it gets pretty real, as these are very real issues. We understand if you want to skip this part, but would appreciate a listen with an open mind. We've also put our money where our mouths are and donated $100 to wetheprotesters.org. Thank you. On with the show.
I want these motherfucking zombies and motherfucking demons off this motherfucking plane! Today's new episode is a nightmare in the sky as we join the mile high horror club with two films featuring terror on airplanes!
In Real World Horror that's not quite as terrifying as the overarching real world horror going on, we discuss a Bolivian pan flute orchestra (no, that's not it) who are stuck in a haunted castle in Berlin. In case that's not bad enough, the castle is also surrounded by wolves.
For Horror Business, we talk about Universal's latest monster remake, as well as a new American Horror Story spin off. We also tell you which original Scream star will be returning for the new sequel and give an update on the Child's Play TV series. Finally, we talk about a new horror film coming from none other than Seth Rogen.
Then we take to the skies! We discuss the low budget zombie film Flight of the Living Dead: Outbreak on a Plane as well as the low brow possession film Exorcism at 60,000 Feet. So please put your tray tables in their upright and locked position, fasten your seat belts low and tight across your lap, and enjoy this mile high episode of The Grave Plot Podcast.

Episode 158 - The Lodge/Porno
Wednesday May 20, 2020
Wednesday May 20, 2020
Let's take this to the bedroom. We can curl up under the covers and put on a Porno. No, not that filth with the boobs and the sex. I'm talking about the new film from Fangoria, featuring a naked succubus haunting a bunch of horny teens. Okay, so maybe it does have boobs and sex.
We also discuss the creepy, ambient chiller The Lodge, where the characters don't know if they're alive or dead. Hear our thoughts on these two films in a brand new episode.
First things first, though, we've got to take care of Horror Business. In Real World Horror, we talk about the bizarre instance of a dead body waving goodbye to their friends and family before they're put to eternal rest. We then go on to discuss which Stephen King adaptation Mike Flanagan will tackle next as well as an attempt at remaking Ghoulies, for some reason. We go on to discuss Hatchet 5 and a new slasher starring the one and only Jean Claude Van Dam. We then wrap things with a festival darling coming to Shudder.

Episode 157 - Pro Wrestlers vs. Zombies/Powerbomb
Thursday May 14, 2020
Thursday May 14, 2020
Bet you guys thought this episode was never coming, huh? Well surprise, bitches! We made the mistake of trying to record this through Zoom, and it blew up in our faces. This episode was a mess and took a LOT of clean up. The audio still isn't great, but it's definitely not the worst sounding show we've put out! :D
Ring the damn bell! It's time for Ready to Rumble: Round Two!
For the second time, we're watching two horror movies centering around professional wrestling. Today's double main event features one of the all time greatest feuds. No, not Michaels vs. Janetty. Not Triple H vs. The Rock. Not even Austin vs. McMahon. I'm talking about Pro Wrestlers vs. Zombies. We then send the episode crashing through a table with a massive Powerbomb.
First up, though, we've got the fabulous undercard known as Horror Business. In Real World Horror, we talk about Indonesia's creative way to keep people inside during the COVID-19 pandemic; locking quarantine violators in haunted houses! We also talk about a brand new Goosebumps TV show, an HBO series based on Hellraiser, and a new Netflix program from the director of Train to Busan. We also discuss a new Quibi series and a stay-at-home edition of the Evil Dead 2 escape room from our friends over at Hourglass Escapes.
So slide into your spandex and oil up because it's time for a brand new episode of The Grave Plot Podcast!

Episode 156 - Verotika/We Summon the Darkness
Thursday Apr 23, 2020
Thursday Apr 23, 2020
Hey all you cool cats and kittens. We're back with a brand new episode from within the quarantine zone.
We kick things off with Real World Horror, which features a Purge going down in Louisiana. In Horror Business, we discuss a new streaming series based on The Shining and its famous hotel. Additionally we've got stories on the latest film from Fede Alvarez, as well as reboot news on Hellraiser and The Others. The Others? Who the hell wants to remake The Others? And why? Anyways, we also yearn for the day we can meet again and play the new official Friday the 13th board game.
For our film reviews, we discuss two movies that have little to nothing to do with each other. First off we've got the Johnny Knoxville vehicle We Summon the Darkness, which also features Tony's dream girl, Alexandra Daddario. We then discuss the heaping trash fire known as Glenn Danzig's Verotika.
Some day we will get to go outside, play sports, and party with our friends. Today is not that day. Today is the day to stay at home and listen to a new episode of The Grave Plot Podcast!
