Episode 152 - Blacula/Bones

Good morning, Neverland! It's time to take flight with a brand new episode of The Grave Plot Podcast!

Episode 150 - Rabid/Rabid (2019) w/ Max & Avalon Zaleski

Don't look now but a brand new episode of The Grave Plot Podcast is coming your way.
It's the big 1-5-0 and we go back to our roots with only our second ever "make vs remake" episode. Today we talk about David Cronenberg's 1977 film Rabid as well as the recent remake by Jen & Sylvia Soska. To help us along the way are our old pal Max Zaleski and, for the first time, his wife Avalon. While we originally brought them on to talk about H.P. Lovecraft, they stayed along for the ride when we had to shift gears and we're happy they did.
In addition to all that rabid talk, we've also got a whole buncha Horror Business, starting with Real World Horror which - shockingly - is about the dangers of organized (or unorganized) religion. We've also got some news about EVEN MOAR WALKING DEAD, plus a big name joins Corey Taylor's debut horror film. Episode 149 - The Changeling/Eli

 
You're here, and so are we, so it must be a new episode of The Grave Plot Podcast!
 
Well, I guess we're not all here. Taylor has left the Grave Yard for a trip to the magical land of poi, leis, tikis, and wild cocks running rampant in the streets.
 
So, while Taylor lives the island life in Hawaii, our good buddy and director of They Reach, Sylas Dall, came to fill in and he and Tony do a deep dive into the cinematic value of two ghostly films, the 1980 classic, The Changeling and the new-ish Netflix Original, Eli.
 
And just because Taylor's gone doesn't mean we don't have some Horror Business to tend to. Tony and Sylas discuss the medicinal value of ghostbusting (or witcher-ing?), shed some light on the upcoming Walking Dead feature film and spin-off series, a posthumous literary effort from George Romero, Sam Raimi's latest batch of Evil Dead smoke to blow up our asses, Mike Flanagan's next project, a new Dracula-related TV series from the creator of Riverdale and The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, and news of the Andy Muschietti-helmed The Howling remake.
 
So get in loser, we're going crazy.
 

Episode 148 - End of Days/Terror Train

Ten... nine... eight... seven... six... five... four... three... two... one... HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Ring in 2020 with a brand new episode of The Grave Plot Podcast. New year, same ol' us, complete with the all the Horror Business we can fit inside a tube sock.
We kick off the new decade with Real World Horror that may provide some insight into epilepsy. Or not. Don't get your hopes up. We move on discuss the directorial debut from writer Simon Barrett, a solo film for everyone's favorite puppet, and a horror script from the front man of Slipknot. We wrap up the segment with stories on next... er, this year's new "Lucifer" convention and the latest film from former guest Chris Peckover.
We also drop our balls with a couple of New Year's Eve film reviews. We start things off with the 1980's slasher Terror Train and close out with the age old battle of good vs evil, light vs dark, Schwarzenegger vs Satan in End of Days.
So pop the bubbly and start the new year off right with a brand new Grave Plot Podcast.

Episode 147 - Anna and the Apocalypse/I Trapped the Devil

It's Christmas morning. Your eyes pop open. You throw your blanket to the side and run downstairs so fast your feet feel like they don't even touch the ground. The tree is all aglow. Your stocking is stuffed so full the seams are stretched. Under the tree are all kinds of gifts, wrapped in silver and gold. You gleefully grab the biggest one and rip the paper. You pull open the box and inside is the gift you've waited for all year. That's right, it's the 2019 Grave Plot Podcast Christmas episode!
This year's selection kicks things off with a Real World Horror story about the mythical Mothman. He's overtaken Point Pleasant, now does he have his sights set on Chicago? In Horror Business, we discuss the new vampire/western movie coming to us courtesy of Glenn Danzig and starring one of the stars of Idle Hands. We also talk about a new Stephen King adaptation from Blumhouse, a Lovecraft film from the creators of "Game of Thrones," and more content coming to Quibi. We close things out with news on an upcoming thriller courtesy of Michael Bluth.
For our film reviews, we've got some holly jolly horror for you with a couple of frightfully festive films. First up is the family-reunion-gone-wrong film I Trapped the Devil, about a man who has a hostage in his basement that may or may not be the Dark Lord. From there we go on to discuss the Christmas zombie musical known as Anna and the Apocalypse. It's a joyous holiday romp, filled with cheerful songs and hordes of undead hungry for human flesh.

Episode 146 - Crawl/The Shed

Yeah, we're well aware that this episode is late. We had some technical issues the first time we recorded it so we had to do it all over again but, hey, practice makes perfect so we're hoping this episode is even better than it could have been the first time around.
Before we get down to business, we discuss the recent premiere of They Reach, the feature film debut of... us! We also discuss the upcoming Grave Plot Film Fest (tickets available now!), and the upcoming third Ghostbusters film, which is for some reason not just called "Ghostbusters 3."
We kick off Horror Business with Real World Horror, discussing an unfortunate story about a death at a retirement home in Utah. However, that's not the death that we're interested in, it's the dead body in the freezer!
We go on to talk about A Nightmare on Elm Street, and the possible reboot coming from Wes Craven's estate. There are a few notable names being tossed around to take on Freddy's glove and we tell you all about them.
We then talk about Universal trying to sneak the Dark Universe into our theaters, despite saying the whole thing was going in the trash (which is probably where it belongs). We have three such examples, including new versions of The Invisible Woman and Frankenstein, plus a feature film based around Renfield.
We close the segment out with a movie set in Washington, DC that might even be scarier than what's going on there now. Director Fede Alvarez is set to make a film described as "The Shining in the White House." That could be interesting.
For our film reviews, we talk about the vampire film The Shed, about a couple teens coming to terms with the bloodsucker living in their backyard. While we originally planned on reviewing Ready or Not, we were forced to call an audible and select the Sam Raimi/Alexander Aja alligator film Crawl.

Episode 145 - Doctor Sleep/Girl on the Third Floor

Good morning, kiddos! Wakey, wakey, hands off snakey because it's time to indulge in a brand new episode of The Grave Plot Podcast!
We kick things off by giving a special shout-out to our Grave Plot Film Fest sponsors and Indiegogo backers. From there, we just into Real World Horror with a creepy story about a kidnapping caught on doorbell cam. We then launch into Horror Business, with a whole bunch of stories about reboots.
First up is an update on Ghostbusters 3, or 2020, or whatever the hell it is, that will make a lot of people happy. Or nervous. Or both! We then talk about a new studio taking on the Scream mantle and debate if anyone actually wants any more Paranormal Activity movies (spoiler alert: you're getting one whether you want it or not). We then move to the small screen with rumors of a new Saw TV series and the potential return of Scream Queens.
We also go on a couple tirades about Disney+ and the film industry. It gets salty.
From there we move into our film reviews. First up we've got the acting debut of Phil "CM Punk" Brooks with the creepy home renovation horror film Girl on the Third Floor. We follow that up a follow-up to Stephen King's The Shining, Mike Flanagan's adaptation of Doctor Sleep.
So wipe the crust out of your eyes, grab a cup of joe, and wake up with The Grave Plot Podcast.

Episode 144 - In the Tall Grass/The Banana Splits Movie

We now return you to your regularly scheduled program.
Another Octoberama has come and gone and boy, are my arms tired. We get back on track with a regular episode, kicking off with a Real World Horror story about an online petition attempting to shut down self proclaimed "extreme haunt" (and proclaimed-by-others "torture tour) McKamey Manor.
The rest of Horror Business features an intriguing studio attempting to obtain the rights to A Nightmare on Elm Street, a new TV series based on Dante's Inferno, and an ambitious new horror franchise based on New Orleans' LaLaurie Mansion from the creators of The Conjuring. We also talk about Paul Fieg's Dark Army and of course, a new project starring Nicolas Cage.
For our film reviews, we've got the new Stephen King adaptation from Netflix, In the Tall Grass, as well as the off-the-wall new adaptation of a beloved 60's kids show, The Banana Splits Movie.
