Episode 15 - Oculus/Patrick w/ Kevin Nesgoda
Wednesday Apr 30, 2014
Wednesday Apr 30, 2014
Hello again and welcome to another episode of everyone's favorite game show... wait... what are we doing? Oh yeah, Grave Plot Podcast. We've got a special guest calling into the show today, Kevin Nesgoda from SonicsRising.com. Kevin takes time out of his NBA Playoff watching to talk horror and review some movies. This episode features a couple of slow burning movies that feature a lot of alternate reality and make you question what is real. We finally got around to seeing the new film Oculus, which was delayed because of the Facebook purchase. Oh, that was something else? Well, anyways, we were supposed to review it last episode but didn't have the time, but now we did. So there. We also reviewed the Australian thriller Patrick, about a coma patient with powers far beyond those of a normal coma patient. I guess technically walking and talking would be powers beyond that of a normal coma patient... Well, Patrick can do more than just walk and talk. Just... just listen to the episode, you'll see what I mean. I hope you didn't think we forgot about Horror Business! Today's news and rumors kick off with the sad news that FEARnet will be going the way of so many Camp Crystal Lake teenagers. Speaking of which, we also give you more updates on not only the new Friday the 13th movie (sequel?) but also a Friday the 13th television show! What? Yeah! And before you ask, no, this is not a rehash of the terrible 1987 series that didn't even involve Jason Voorhees. In non-Friday the 13th related news, we also tell you which former TV star could be making a return to the small screen on The Walking Dead, plus tell you about the expansion of that same undead apocalypse universe with the release of a new series of novels. Speaking of zombies, we tell you about the new anthology Zombieworld, and give you the details of Contracted: Phase II. Other sequel news include Sinister 2, Nurse 2, Insidious Chapter 3, and I Spit on Your Grave 3. In case all that doesn't satiate your appetite, there's also a new Cabin Fever being discussed, but instead of a sequel it's going to be a remake (reboot? Reimagining? Whatever). Man, our segue game is on point today. So get ready. While the movies we review might take a while to get going, we come out guns blazing. Bang bang!

Episode 14 - Lucky Bastard/Hatchet/Jack Davis
Wednesday Apr 16, 2014
Wednesday Apr 16, 2014
One of our reviews this episode is a movie called Lucky Bastard. Dave gets to bang his favorite porn star. It does not go as expected. Hilarity ensues. Wait, that doesn't sound right... Our other review has writer/director Adam Green bringing back "old school American horror" with his slasher flick Hatchet, about a Louisiana ghoul who slays anyone that trespasses in his bayou. We also got a chance to speak to the CEO of The Crypt horror app, Jack Davis. You can check out The Crypt at fearthecrypt.com and download if you're an iPhone user (Android coming soon). It's a great source for pics, articles, movie clips or anything else that gives people the heebie jeebies. Go check it out. In addition to all that fun stuff, we also have your doctor recommended dose of Horror Business. Today's topics include another series about Charles Manson (besides the Rob Zombie/Brett Easton Ellis collaboration that we discussed in episode 11), updates on Pumpkinhead (yes, you read that correctly), sequel news and rumors for The Dead and Hocus Pocus, plus more on the Scream TV adaptation that MTV is working on. We originally discussed that one WAY back in episode 1. But wait! There's more! We also tell you which Syfy program is getting cancelled and what it's being replaced with, plus tell you who you'll see in Eli Roth's Knock Knock. So strap in, it's gonna be a bumpy one. The ad in this episode is for the "Yeah, Let's Go There" podcast. You can find more at yeahletsgothere.com.

Welcome to episode lucky number thirteen! We have another special guest in the studio today: Carlos Rodela, who has appeared in a multitude of web series, podcasts, and bands. He tell us about all his new projects and joins as we break down the Irish clown-horror Stitches and the 2011 "premake" of The Thing. We give both movies the business. Speaking of business, we dive into Horror Business with all the latest on the horror sitcom Holliston. In addition, we give you all the updates on the new seasons of American Horror Story and From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series, plus sequel news on Phantasm: Ravager, Ghostbusters 3, and Tucker and Dale vs Evil 2. Finally, we give news on the upcoming Amityville and the holidays get evil with A Christmas Horror Story. In addition to all that, Carlos gets ornery and our train of thought derails several times. Drunken Cinema, Vol 1: Shaun of the Dead
Friday Mar 28, 2014
Friday Mar 28, 2014
We are starting a brand new segment here on The Grave Plot. It’s called Drunken Cinema and it’s exactly what it sounds like. We get toasted like marshmallows and record a DVD commentary. No recaps, no reviews, just slurred little nuggets about the movie. This will be a recurring but not regular event. More of a “bonus feature.”
Volume 1 is Shaun of the Dead. In honor of the event, here is a relevant cocktail recipe for you to enjoy during the movie. It’s called the Zombie.
1/2 oz Bacardi® 151 rum
1 oz pineapple juice
1 oz orange juice
1/2 oz apricot brandy
1 tsp sugar
2 oz light rum
1 oz dark rum
1 oz lime juice
Blend all ingredients with ice except Bacardi 151 proof rum. Pour into a collins glass. Float Bacardi 151 proof rum on top. Garnish with a fruit slice, sprig of mint and a cherry.
So pop the disc in the player, grab your drink, and watch along with us. We hope you enjoy it. Cheers.

Episode 11 - American Mary/Nurse 3D
Wednesday Mar 05, 2014
Wednesday Mar 05, 2014
This one is for the ladies. We review two movies with female leads, American Mary, about a med school student who turns to a dark underworld, and Nurse, about a... well, nurse, who brings a dark underworld to the surface. Both feature women who are a little south of normal. We also give you the business. Horror Business, that is. We catch you up on the latest from Rob Zombie and Bret Easton Ellis, provide updates on the Goosebumps movie and Comes the Krampus!, and tell you why the remake of Pet Sematary is going to be god-awful, which leads into a whole spiel about Hollywood stomping all over the horror genre. On top of all that, we introduce you to the new John Constantine, give you the latest on Ghostbusters III, break down Penny Dreadful, and tell you what Eli Roth is up to these days. If that's not enough, we also tell you about Utero and warn you of the dangers of Zombeavers. Take a listen, I think you'll like what you hear. ...ladies.

Episode X - Wrong Turn/The Video Dead/Rob Buchta
Wednesday Feb 19, 2014
Wednesday Feb 19, 2014
We let you guys pick our reviews and, quite frankly, you boned us! We take on the winners of the award, Wrong Turn and The Video Dead. They were... not well received. But some good news, we did get to interview the man in charge of the makeup competition at Crypticon Seattle, Rob Buchta. It was a fun interview and Rob gave us lots of good info. We can't wait to see him again at the event. In Horror Business, we discuss the latest on Beetlejuice 2 and the upcoming remake of It, as well as Wolves, Cell, and a movie based on R.L. Stine's Goosebumps books. In addition, we tell you about the Psycho house, which is in disarray. There is a petition out there to have it restored, we suggest you sign it. We hope you enjoy this show, since you helped create it. If you don't like it, you only have yourself to blame! Cheers!

Wednesday Feb 05, 2014
And you thought YOU had bad hemorrhoids. OI! There's something up Duncan's butt, and his name is Milo! Bad Milo! Like the name of the movie we review this episode! We give you our take on this heart-warming, thought-provoking tale of a man and his ass-demon. In addition, we also break down the all-too-real viral video thriller, The Upper Footage. We give you all the info on this movie that had an almost four year ramp-up before it was released, not to mention all the controversy surrounding it, involving everyone from Quentin Tarantino to Mark Cuban. In the latest Horror Business, we give you the first details on Paranormal Activity 5, tell you why you should contact your local cable provider about FearNet, compare ourselves to legendary filmmakers, and break down the greatest found footage concept in history; realty porn horror. We also discuss the latest casting choices for Rosemary's Baby, discuss the trailer for Dead Snow: Red vs. Dead, and catch Cooties. Plus yet another new film from self-proclaimed "former filmmaker" Kevin Smith is in the works, the CW is ordering two new horror-themed shows, fans are remaking Resident Evil 2, tiny little vampires are coming and you can be a part of Hellions. All this and more awaits, so press the triangle now! Press it! More exclamation points!

Episode 8 - Devil's Due/Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones
Wednesday Jan 22, 2014
Wednesday Jan 22, 2014
Oh hey, I didn't see you there. The evolution of the show continues as we bust out some brand new microphones (we're still figuring them out so the first half of the episode is a little wonky), and rename the news and rumors section. The newly dubbed "horror business" section contains updates on the Rosemary's Baby miniseries, plus a breakdown of all the other horror TV programs coming soon. And while we're on the subject, we also talk about some rumors concerning the next season of American Horror Story. We also cuss out Platinum Dunes (and Michael Bay specifically... again) for their attempted continued fuck-up of the Friday the 13th franchise and discuss the potential of a True Blood movie, much to our chagrin. Not only that, but we catch you up on the Poltergeist remake (Sam Rockwell, y'all!), give you the latest on Muck and Carrie, and introduce you to the Elm Street fan film series Krueger. Our reviews cover a pair of found footage movies and we discuss the genre as a whole (spoiler alert: we're over it). We discuss the new pregnancy film Devil's Due, about - shock - a couple giving birth to the antichrist. We also review the newest in the Paranormal Activity series, The Marked Ones. It's just like a regular Paranormal Activity movie, but without all the white people. We just happened to be recording the whole time, and the recordings have now been unearthed and shared with the world. Listen close, you might hear something you didn't expect. Or not. The word of the day is "shoehorn."

Episode 7 - You're Next/Curse of Chucky/Eric England
Wednesday Jan 08, 2014
Wednesday Jan 08, 2014
Happy new year! We are ready to go big in 2014 and it all starts here. We have our first ever interview, with the writer and director of Contracted (which we reviewed in episode 5), Mr. Eric England. Eric breaks down not only Contracted, but also his previous film Madison County, plus he tells us about what the future holds for him, and agrees to have a beer with us. We also unearth a bunch of news, including rumors of yet another film from self-proclaimed "former filmmaker" Kevin Smith, the latest sequel news for Woman In Black and Dead Snow, plus yet another Amityville movie. On top of all that, we discuss Simon Pegg's latest horror-comedy A Fantastic Fear of Everything, as well as the Christian anti-porn horror The Lock In. Yes, that's a real thing. We also were able to dig up some television news about The Walking Dead and an upcoming miniseries based on The Mist. As usual, we have two movie reviews for you. This episode we picked You're Next and the latest installment in the Child's Play series, Curse of Chucky. Plus, Taylor has not one but two rants about "kids these days," Tony takes the lord's name in vain, and we make three different references to Entourage. So come play with us. We're your friends 'til the end.
